“Great Taste of Texas” Texas Vineyard & Smokehaus is located in Palestine and is owned by Rafael Hernandez. The winery opened in 2008. The winery was not found on our GPS so we used the coordinates we found from Google maps. Fortunately the coordinates brought us to the winery fairly easily as we found the winery on a corner lot in the rural area. There is a tasting fee for 4 wines and an extra fee for their special Sangria by the glass or pitcher. All the wines are corked and are poured with a measured pourer while we stood at the tasting bar. Cheese, crackers, and chocolate are available for cleansing your palate between the different wines. Address: County Road 2133, Palestine, TX 75801 Phone: 903-538-2950 Email: vinorafi69@gmail.com
Texas Vineyard & Smokehaus
Bill Bledsoe graduated from Texas A&M University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. In 1993 he began his wine making career by apprenticing under his brother at Pillar Bluff Vineyards. After 9 years of informal training which included planting, vineyard management, wine making and sales, he started his own brand. The Texas Legato vineyard was planted in 2002 and consisted of Malbec, Merlot, Petite Verdot and Petite Syrah on 2 acres. Over the next ten years, the vineyard has expanded to cover 10 acres. Formal education has continued by continuing education seminars learning from other industry winemakers. He has been awarded medals from San Antonio to San Francisco wine competitions. The winery at Texas Legato was opened in 2007. It has been a great learning experience to work with the general public in sales. Bill is married to Sulynn and has two children, their spouses and one grandson. 2935 FM 1478 Lampasas, TX 76550 P (512) 556-9600E info@texaslegatowinery.net
Welcome! Our cottage winery was opened in 2004, and destroyed by hurricane IKE in 2008. We have rebuilt, and re-opened August, 2014. We make red, white, fruit wines and mead(honey wine). We are able to host 20 people in our small bistro and tasting room. We look forward to sharing our adventure in craft wine making with you all in the near future.
