“The Cooking Demonstrations”
The Texas Mushroom Festival is dedicated to providing a unique cultural and educational experience for visitors by promoting our agricultural, culinary and fine arts. Madisonville is officially the Mushroom Capital of Texas and we have some of the finest culinary talent in the state within our reach! Mushrooms are a predominant ingredient.  The chef will provide a recipe for 4 – 6 people which will be printed in the Texas Mushroom Festival Guide, demonstrate their recipe during the festival and prepare 500 samples for the audience. The Texas Mushroom Festival Cooking Demonstration Tent is across the street from the Woodbine Hotel and Restaurant located two blocks north of the town square at 209 N Madison in Madisonville, Texas.

Texas Chef Louis Hernandez Louis Hernandez is the Executive Chef & Director of Catering for Jimmy G’s Cajun Seafood Restaurant located in Houston,Texas.  His introduction to the world of cooking started at the age of 15 as a dishwasher.  Chef Hernandez has been in a leadership role and cooking for over 36 years with Jimmy G’s. Highlights of Chef Hernandez’s career include: Caterer for the U.S. Conference of Mayors Catered the largest outdoor event for the Republican National Convention Featured Chef for Good Morning America Houston Rockets Official Caterer Catered the largest outdoor event for the Offshore Technology Convention in Houston Houston Livestock & Rodeo Volunteer for the Livestock Committee Co-Founder of Old Town Spring Crawfish Festival Pompano Seafood Festival Featured Chef Pensacola Fiesta of Five Flags Seafood Festival Featured Chef Fort Lauderdale Cajun Zydeco Festival Featured Chef Caterer for the Annual Shriner Galveston event Chef Hernandez with Jimmy G’s Restaurant have been featured in Esquire, Fortune, USA Today, The New York Times, and named one of the Top Ten Houston Restaurants by The Houston Chronicle. The Texas Mushroom Festival is a non-profit organization that relies in part, on donations we receive. We greatly welcome your donation. All transactions are processed on secure servers. Donations of $100.00  or greater will be placed on the “Friends of the Festival” list.
